The North Central Province Historian, Brother Kevin Scott, is implementing a new program to obtain and retain Historical Archives of Kappa Alpha Psi. Please see the documents attached and a link to a page about his program.
Brothers All,
There is a problem within our Fraternity that I’d like to make you aware of. On a regular basis, there are Brothers who inevitably enter the Chapter Invisible. Along with this unfortunate circumstance, too many times, our Brother’s paraphernalia, pledge keepsakes and fraternity esoteric material that are kept at their homes are discarded or placed for sale at auction or on ebay to the highest bidder.
Although no Brother should be in possession of esoteric material, we must recognize that there are Brothers who have such items. With that being said, I am proposing the implementation of a Kappa Paraphernalia Archive Program to extend from each chapter (Undergraduate and Alumni) throughout the North Central Province.
The program will work as follows: Brothers will complete the NCP Kappa Paraphernalia Archive Program Form. This form will provide Brothers the option of listing specific or general fraternity related items which they possess. This form will let the Brother’s family be aware of his wishes of what he wants to do with them. Brothers can choose to have the items retained for his son (as a Legacy/future Kappa) or they can be donated to the North Central Province Historical Archives or to his local chapter.
As we quickly approach our centennial, I believe that one of the most important agendas we should embrace and actively participate in is the preservation of our history for all of posterity. Brothers, please join me in this most important endeavor and encourage others to do the same. I can be reached at the below listed email address and/or phone number for any questions.
